Mandate of the Division

  1. Referral diagnostic services to health care facilities and state public health units
  2. Bacteriological testing of drinking water during outbreaks
  3. Operational research
  4. Conduct training programmes/workshops
  5. Develop guidelines and SOPs
  6. Implementation of National programme on AMR Containment: Provide technical support to 70 hospitals and labs in 34 state sand UTs to ensure desired outputs of the programme, conduct trainings, site support visits, Logistic Management
  7. National Referral Laboratory for AMR conducts quarterly EQAS and Alert confirmation of AMR priority pathogens received from the network sites.
  8. Coordinate with stakeholder ministries and departments regarding activities under National Action Plan-AMR (NAP-AMR).
  9. Participate in International collaborations under MoHFW

1 Referral Diagnostic Services A. Provide diagnostic services for diagnosis of bacterial infection in clinical samples referred from nearby Government hospitals.

B. Conduct testing of clinical samples referred by outbreak investigation teams 		A. Identification of bacterial infectious agents e.g. Salmonella Typhi, Shigella sp, Vibrio cholerae and their susceptibility profile for therapeutic management of patients.

B. AMR NRL established for conducting lab trainings, conducting EQAS and confirmation of AMR Alert strains.

C. National AMR surveillance developed as Semi-annual Bulletins and Annual Reports, uploaded on NCDC website.

D. 9 State level AMR surveillance networks established/strengthened for AMR surveillance involving other medical colleges in state.

E. Surveillance of healthcare-associated bloodstream infections (BSI) and urinary tract infections (UTI) established at 45 hospitals.

F. Regular trainings conducted in online on WHONET, specialized antimicrobial susceptibility testing techniques, HAI surveillance.

G. Coordinated development of awareness material on antimicrobial resistance and rational use of antimicrobials, uploaded on NCDC website; annually coordinated/guided World AMR Awareness Week activities across the country.
