Mangalagiri Branch
Introduction
National Centre for Disease Control, Rajahmundry branch was started in 1963 at Rajahmundry, Andhra Pradesh. The branch was shifted from Rajahmundry to Mangalagiri in February, 2025

Mandate of the Branch:
- Coordinate Training on Elimination of Lymphatic Filariasis (LF) for Medical Officers and Para-Medical Staff viz., Biologists, Filaria inspectors / Technicians Working in National Filaria Control Programme (NFCP) Units & Urban Malaria Scheme (UMS).
- Carrying out operational research & training for elimination of Lymphatic Filariasis.
- Services to Public through Filaria Clinic and Lymphoedema Management of filariasis patients.
- Carrying out Vector surveillance at Point of Entries (Seaport/Airport) for Yellow fever, Dengue, Zika, Malaria & Chikungunya.
- Outbreak investigations & Epidemic investigations being carried out as and when assigned by NCDC, Headquarters, Delhi.
Objective of the Branch
- To train manpower for elimination of Lymphatic Filariasis (LF).
- To alleviate morbidity associated with Lymphatic Filariasis through appropriate management.
- To raise awareness among communities on Lymphatic Filariasis (LF) through Information Education and Communication (IEC) and Advocacy, communication and Social Mobilization (ACSM).

- Training course on Lymphatic Filariasis (LF) for Medical Officers /Biologists/District Program officers. (Duration -3 Days)
- Training course on Filarialogy for Filaria Inspectors/Health Inspectors/Technicians. (Duration -5 Days)
- Vector Surveillance at point of entry for Vectors of Yellow fever, Dengue, Chikungunya and Malaria at Visakhapatnam International Airport and Visakhapatnam Seaport.
- Soil Transmitted Helminths (STH) prevalence study in various states as assigned by Head of the Department of Parasitic Diseases, NCDC, Delhi.
- IEC and Morbidity Management and Disability prevention (MMDP) program for filariasis patients and caretakers.
- Conducting Filaria Day and Night clinics.
- Conducting awareness program on Filariasis to new and old patients and explaining preventive measures to patients.
- Cross checking of Micro Filaria blood smears received from Regional Office of Health and Family Welfare (ROHF&W) Bhubaneswar.
- Training on vector borne diseases for undergraduate students and multipurpose health staff (MPHS) is conducted on request.
