Programme details:
NRCP was approved and rolled out in the entire country under the 12th Five Year Plan. NCDC is the nodal agency for implementing the health component. State level activities of the program are being implemented through the National Health mission since FY2019-20. The programme has now been approved under SFC for FY 2021-26 under Scheme E of umbrella scheme of NCDC.

Programme details:
The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Govt. of India, launched the Epidemic Intelligence Service (EIS) Programme at National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), Delhi in October 2012 on the lines of the programme of the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Atlanta, USA. This two-year programme is designed to provide high quality training to public health professionals with skills in epidemiology necessary for public health actions including surveillance, effective and rapid response to any public health event or crisis. This training is offered to nominated candidates of state health departments and self-sponsored mid-level public health professionals.
This unique programme is being conducted by the NCDC, Delhi in technical collaboration with CDC, Atlanta. The programme is now linked to a Masters in Applied Epidemiology (MAE) degree from HN Bahuguna Uttarakhand Medical Education University.
Programme details:
Epidemiology Division of National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) is a WHOCollaborating Centre for Epidemiology & training since 1996. Objective is to strengthen technical capabilities and skills of health professionals in field application of epidemiology in prevention & control of diseases.
Among the various Training Programmes conducted for Public Health Capacity building, Field Epidemiology Training Programme (FETP) & Paramedical FETP are the two key WHO sponsored activities.
- Field Epidemiology Training Programme (FETP) (3 Month) – It is a tailor-made programme for medical personnel from countries of South East Asia Region to strengthen the epidemiological skills. The training covers modules on principles of epidemiology, introduction to biostatistics, disease surveillance, outbreak investigation and response, role of the laboratories in public health, emerging infectious diseases, communication and health promotion, international health regulation, basic computer applications, and field practice.
- Regional Training Programme on Prevention and Control of Communicable Diseases or Paramed FETP (One month) – The division conducts one-month training programme every year for Paramedical workers from the countries of South East Asia Region in prevention and control of communicable diseases. This training programme aims at enhancing epidemiological skills of paramedical health workforce in the region for rapid response during communicable diseases outbreaks.
