The Division provides technical support to following two National programmes:
- National Iodine Deficiency Disorders Control Programme (NIDDCP)
- National Programme for Prevention and Control of Fluorosis (NPPCF)

Details of Laboratories/Units:
1. Laboratories/ units under the Division: Lab/Unit name:- Clinical Biochemistry Laboratory
- National Reference Laboratory for NIDDCP and Northern region IDD Monitoring Laboratory
- National Reference Laboratory for NPPCF Officer in Charge of Lab/Unit: Dr Meera Dhuria, MBBS, MD, MBA (HCA), Joint Director
- The Biochemistry and Toxicology Division houses National Reference Laboratory for National Iodine Deficiency Disorders Control Programme (NIDDCP) and National Reference Laboratory for National Programme for Prevention and Control of Fluorosis (NPPCF).
- The Division is providing technical support to two National Programmes – NIDDCP and NPPCF with respect to programme monitoring, laboratory monitoring and imparting manpower training as the National Reference Centre. Working in collaboration with Nutrition & IDD Cell, Dte.GHS., MoHFW.
- Division works in coordination with Health & Wellness Centre, NCDC, Delhi for biochemical screening of risk assessment of NCDs like Diabetes Mellitus, hypertension, cardiac diseases, renal diseases and gout, etc.
- The Division is also in process of setting up of heavy metals testing laboratory, which could serve as the Referral Laboratory for incidents of heavy metal poisoning or diseases of chemical origin.
- The Division also imparts internship training to graduate and postgraduate students of Biochemistry and allied subjects.
